Public report compares national company bases, regional specialization and international visibility

BUSAN, SOUTH KOREA, October 21, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- AMPulse, the additive manufacturing (AM) market intelligence platform operated by WeeklyVentures, presented research on how national 3D printing industries differ at the 2nd GBA Going Global Forum during TCT Shenzhen 2026. Sangmin (Simon) Lee, founder of WeeklyVentures and AMPulse, participated as a speaker and panelist.

The research is available in Same Industry, Different Shapes, a public report with 30 findings organized around five questions: who builds, funds, invents, buys and crosses borders in additive manufacturing. Three comparisons illustrate why the companies visible in one market may give a different picture of the industry from those in another.

Different company bases

In AMPulse's company profiles as of October 12, 2026, machine makers and materials suppliers account for 64% of tracked Chinese companies. In the US, companies making their own products with AM and software companies together account for 31%. Service bureaus are the largest group in Britain, Italy and France, representing 41–49% of tracked companies. These shares describe the composition of company profiles in each country.

Regional specialization within China

The Greater Bay Area has a distinct polymer AM concentration. In the report's tracked company base, 63% of Greater Bay Area AM companies work in polymer, compared with 39% in the rest of China. Shenzhen has 59 machine makers, the highest count of any metropolitan area in the census.

Different views across languages

The report also compares coverage of Chinese AM companies across media languages. Among stories collected from January 1 to October 12, 2026, metal laser powder bed fusion accounts for 38% of Chinese-language coverage, compared with 12% in other languages. Material extrusion is the largest category in the non-Chinese-language coverage. The comparison highlights how industry visibility can vary with the sources a reader follows.

For companies considering overseas expansion, these comparisons offer a starting point for identifying supplier networks, potential partners and the industry segments most visible in each market. Readers can follow the report's links to explore companies and related analyses.

The report draws on company, funding, patent, news and equipment records, using source snapshots from September 7 to October 12, 2026. Source notes identify the data sources, counting units and relevant dates.
